Cleaning Tips for Summer
You are currently spending more time at home than normal. As a result, your house is undoubtedly seeing more activity, appliances are being used more frequently, and the need to clean is greater than ever. Here are a few cleaning tips you can use to keep your house tidy and maintain your sanity.
When is the last time you cleaned your showerheads? You probably can’t even remember. To clean them and restore their pressure, put an equal amount of white vinegar and water in a plastic bag and tie the bag around the showerhead to submerge the holes in the mixture. Leave it on for about an hour and then wipe away the loosened mineral deposits.
While you’re cleaning your showerheads, take down your shower curtains and put them in the washing machine. Add some towels to the machine to help clean them a bit better. Once they finish the cycle, hang the curtains to dry or put them in the dryer on low heat. You can get rid of mildew and mold quickly and easily this way.
If you have hardwood floors, you’ve likely accumulated scuffs and marks. You can use a sock or clean tennis ball to remove small scuffs. You can gently rub larger marks with baking soda on a damp cloth. When you’re done, rinse with a damp paper towel and dry the area.
Finally, since you’re probably making more meals at home, your garbage disposal likely has a funky smell. You can get rid of the odor by putting lemon rinds in the disposal, turning it on, and flushing with cold water. Foul smells will be gone and your kitchen will have a zesty, pleasing scent!
Being at home and spending time together is a good thing. But, more people in the house more often means there’s a higher likelihood that there will be smells, marks, and general dirtiness.
